Born on March 11, 1981. Live in Hokkaido.

 Using a technique called “hyper-drawing”, I produce work with the theme of “the presence of unusual forms.” Hyper-drawing is a style of drawing that features excessive delineation and coloring. 

  I am interested in things that cannot be understood through common sense and things that remain unnamed, and believe that these “uncommon” things are host to new thoughts and values. For example, my Child of Light series consists of work 

I painted imagining unknown creatures. My Hyper Ōkubi-e series shifts away from the conventional portraits of ukiyo-e block printing from the Edo era, utilizing excessive line drawing and colors in direct painting to create altered portraits of Ezo(the non-Yamato ethnic group of Northern Japan, and an old name of Hokkaido). Viewers face the work to face the “presence” of the unusual. It strikes me that basing my production in the Hokkaido region is one of the reasons for these excessively unusual creatures. And these unusual things hold a clear reality for me.

　1981年3月11日生まれ。北海道在住。ハイパードローイングという技法を用いて、「異形の存在」をテーマに、ドローイング作品を制作している。ハイパードローイングとは過剰な線描と色彩で描くことである。常識では言い表せないものや名前を持たぬ存在に興味を抱き、彼らのようなズレた存在にこそ、新しい考え方や価値観が宿っていると考える。例えば、「光の子」シリーズは、未知の生物をイメージして描かれた者たちである。ハイパー大首絵シリーズは、江戸の浮世絵版画フォーマットからズレて、直描きによる過剰な線描と色彩で描き変えられた別様(蝦夷)の大首絵である。鑑賞者は作品達と向き合うことで、異形の者の「存在感」と対峙することになる。北海道という局地でずっと制作してきたことも、このような過剰な異形者達を生み出す要因になっていると考える。
